A man’s not content with day and its giving?
Surroundings, the backdrop and way he is living?
And woman the same, watches life pass her by
So two stand neglected and wonder just why

We all search for answers to questions each day
As life like a steam train keeps chugging away
We contemplate prayer and dream of a change
But all seems allusive and out of our range

I walk with my voices that ramble with dread
I sleep with my voices each night in my bed
But then when it’s workday I need clear the mind
Again find the brave face and courage of kind

To find life’s enjoyment and use it each day
To find it pays wages to cover the way
To find that you’re smiling much more than you moan
Might find you are blessed but smiling alone

I’m searching contentment of body and soul
I walk on toward it but fall in a hole
I pick myself up, but again I am back
On road of my downfall, a windy old track

So on now I travel with hope on my mind
That some years are kinder with pleasures to find
That something will guide me and show me the way
To place I am longing and dream of each day

Dear Dixie, lovely to see you here again my friend, it would be nice if all the feelings were of contentment and not worry, but then I wonder if that is what our visit here is for, to search the dream. Be well my friend, I will try to visit more often.

Dear Sunshine, hope is a feeling that does keep me going, the dream of tomorrow and changes, I have become too old for stresses in life and looking to change them, but miracles are a little hard to find it seems. Thank you for the reply here dear friend, take care and be well.

Hope you girls both had a lovely Christmas and New Year, see you again soon.

Sincerely
Rick

A wonderful write Rick!
So good to see you here and to read you again.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Oh Rick, you have no idea how I relate to this, here's the part I like the most

"I’m searching contentment of body and soul
I walk on toward it but fall in a hole
I pick myself up, but again I am back
On road of my downfall, a windy old track"

How the heck do we get off this old road? Does anyone know?

Keep the faith

Rick
It's nothing more than peace of mind
but that is really hard to find.
Lots of luck my friend.

My friends, always great to have you all visit, I am searching, you are all welcome to join me, peace of mind is the key, but with time and age it has gone missing, must be that midlife thing I guess.

Thanks for the visit and reply.

Sincerely
Rick

What a wonderful write!  I recognise the feeling behind the words... and just wonder... Rick... how are you feeling today?

Hi Rick, I'm new to this site and so I've just had a chance to read a couple of your poems. I like how direct and "guy" they are. I can relate.
