What can’t we face? We know that we have changed, And we tell ourselves it’s for the best. Pretending things are as they were, Things as they are are a mess. But we can never go back to those simpler times When things were so clearly explained. And all I want is to feel loved again I’m clinging to what still remains. I’ll never admit out loud that I’ve failed But I tell it to myself every day. Dreaming of things as they could have been But it just didn’t end up that way. We have all the time in the world But it’s not long enough to see it through. I want someone to blame It can’t be me, it has to be you. These are the lies we tell ourselves To keep from falling apart. What we forget is that with each new day We’re given a brand new start. We can’t see what we have We’re blinded by the tears in our eyes. When it comes to facing my own mistakes I’d rather tell myself lies. |

I enjoyed the read. This poem really makes one think. I personally hate when some tells me a lie. But that is me. Awesome poem!!! Poetry is beauty in words. |

I found that the only way to love myself was to tell myself the truth about me....that is when I finally was able to love those around me....Your poem reminded me of myself many years ago....I think with age I have learned to accept who I am and if I don't like myself life is all about growing and changing...A heartfelt poem that opens our eyes...*Big Hugs* |
