The Road to Humility |

Dust settled upon the broken road, weathered by many rains. Tears they fell, in contempt of captivity. Dark clouds loomed above, easing serenity beyond reach. The journey was jagged, many steps forward and twice as many back. I stood before a mountian, giant in size. I climbed and climbed, a battle had begun. My sword was bland, out of laziness my sword would not sharpen. I fought the ground, as I climbed and climbed. At the top the view was majestic, the other side was beautifully green. I began to descend into the riches, of humility. On the way down I met truth, he introduced me to Virtue. Virtue had much to say before passing me, to silence. Here I learned the value of my words, that each one was significant. Even the ones, in which were left unsaid. Soon thereafter silence took my hand, and brought me to humility. Where I was asked to bow my head, I prayed and prayed. With this man, he spoke of his abundant love for me. He spoke of his joy and his pain, and then he said I was forgiven. He lifted his arms, and the sun shone through the clouds. There was light on my world again, I was accepted. Speak only well of others, and need not whisper. -Unknown |
