(a horrible day, work in progress, felt the need to get these initial thoughts out) A stubborn soul sought an epic end Spreading hokie stone along with fragile skin Norris Hall filled with fight and fear Terror... the flight, then sorrow so clear In Blacksburg a man fell, from soft sanity to the depth of despair, to calm calamity The deaths... no reason, only Satan's seed Spilling shock, over long walks, as lost students bleed Jak |

I wish I could just give them all a big hug, I live close by , within two hours. I have visited many times, there is no place sacred anymore, it can happen anywhere, anytime, we just need to be prepared and put that into our minds, no one is exempt. Thanks for Posting this! J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.” |

Tragic but not completely unpredictable when we still allow someone with an apparently documented penchant for unstable/violent talk to walk in and purchase weapons, then allow that same person to walk onto an open campus and commit two hours of psychotic behavior. In those tragic two hours, it boiled down to a lack of communication....for all our advancement in technological communications, we fail miserably at the most basic levels. As another already commented, you penned this tragedy well. |
