April Snow It snowed yesterday, as unexpected as that could be. Down fell the wisps and shards of ice flakes in a never ending sea They hovered and danced and frolicked on the breeze They said hello to my garden Hello to the rose, set to bloom sometime soon. Hello to the long swords of the Glads that are still yet to swoon. They struck my tomato and put it to never ending sleep As peaceful as they may have seemed they wreaked havoc on my garden dreams Now my tomatoes bow their heads and weep The rose is tinged with brown, and gently curling about the leaves The Glads have turned dark green, and are lilting on the ground Snow in April, Who’d have thought that could be Here in Texas, I thought it was already spring. It snowed yesterday, as unexpected as that could be. Down fell the wisps and shards of ice flakes in a never ending sea Jennirey 2007 |

"As peaceful as they may have seemed they wreaked havoc on my garden dreams"...love this. it reminds me that first year in St.Louis I could not wait to plant flowers in early April. two days later a storm ruined all of them. enjoyed. |

Seems as if we all had repeat taste of winter this weekend! Fortunately, we still have the option of replanting. |

I love Kacy's optimism ... "we can still replant". Enjoyed your captivating description! I love flowers and I love the snow, but the order has been inverted here. When flowers pierce the snow, they are safe, but when snow covers them they are lost. Love and happy Spring anyway! Margherita |
