I can't see the end to this... the waking up hours before the alarm, the nightmares and tossing around, the feeling that you'll do me harm. We always hurt the ones we love the most. Maybe it's just stress, maybe you're a ghost. There are nights I miss you terribly. The years stack up against each other side by side comparably. I light my candle and burn my oil, and still wait for you to call between sips of rum and coke and the glory of it all in a room filled with smoke I am restless and small, preparing myself again once again for the fall. Whatever happens tomorrow ...just know I still love you as I did years ago. |

...and unfortunately it never changes, or goes away...but we cope, move along, lie to ourselves. Forty-some years ago, another life, another world, the memories, the feelings still there, not replaced by, or substituted for, but living with the new (30 some years) and current ones. We move on when we're ready . . . some just take longer to know they are. Heartbeats from me to you, dear friend. . . j. |

There are some especially powerful parts to this 'write'! I particularly like: "The years stack up against each other..." and: "I light my candle and burn my oil and still wait for you to call between sips of rum and coke..." the following rather effectively delimits my (alleged) 'life' as well: "in a room filled with smoke I am restless and small, preparing myself again once again for the fall." I don't write such (grand) direct 'realism' [though I wish I could and had!] as I might not likely survive doing so!.... Applause!! |

Beautiful, as always! I know the feelings well, myself. I have been through the hurt, and still crave those few good times in between. You have struck home here, dear girl! ~~Terry ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, |
