There is no shadowy glimpse of a presence that roamed long ago. There is no wild cry on the stillness of a whispered breeze. Only a memory exists of the dignified being woven intricately into the span of life. Only a memory of what once existed. Free on the breath of the land. Once of the living, once belonging. A past heartbeat of the land. Clasped in finality. Now there is only a memory. From the book of poetry The Greatest Treasure by Amy Romaine Buchanan copyright 2005 published by iUniverse |
