Shades of Heather and Green Today I’m looking at a scene And counting forty shades of green Surrounded by this purple heather Peeking out the mist of weather An envelope of interlope Climbing up the mountain slope An Irish vision to be seen This country with its forty green And clouds are drifting in and out Lacing thoughts of warm devout Smoothing glories in-between This vision of a country scene And on the pane the dew drops lain Start to run in colors vain Sleuthing out the gold of lease A moment’s touch of worldly peace A sign unto my path and goal A moment’s comfort to my soul |

I really liked it. Some nitpicks: I might change the last line of the second stanza, the "forty green" part sounds a bit forced. And the "unto" in the second to last line breaks the rhythm a bit in a slightly awkward way. But really - I like the poem. |
