were you cooking to bring me flowers

               or a wedding ring?

were you looking for hours of conversation

                 to hear me sing

                    i love you?

or were you booking dates to climb my Eiffel Tower to feel me cling to you with enough forgiving power

to think of you as my soulmate?

i can't believe the strings you've pulled to love me

               my soul can wait

                    no longer
