Taking The Initiative I was raised by a Dad that was controlling and judgmental. I took on parts of his nature, through osmosis I suppose, or perhaps it was where I felt most comfortable. Now I realize that he was wrong, and I was wrong to follow his ways. My desire is to stop being controlling and judgmental and to be a man that is forgiving, loving and accepting. If your parents didn't give you love and acceptance, then you won't have any to give, unless you can see where you are lacking, and are willing to take the initiative to change. Thank you Roniece, exhale, passing shadows and JL for the nice responses. I have been taking the initiative for quite a while now...and I have made some progress...it is a life time process...James |
