Where Sand Goes Down To Die Grain of sand, blade of grass, dove of flock and star of sky, this is the place where sand goes down to die. Pounded wave by wave along a thousand miles of coast until the flow seems endless, but the world tilts steep here near the shore, and in a day of time a million millions tumble down it, gone. It’s hard to think of sands doomed never to see another wave, but down they go, gravitic lemmings in a sandfall toward that deepest crack where their piece of world slides in under the edge of a continent; harder to think of the poor sands caught between those whelms of stone, ground down, down into the heat below. Oh the lava is so beautiful, they’ll say into the burgeoning glow; then in a fortune of time, sand again, but not this sand, not the grains here in my hand, pristine, never these. Even so, I pour them at the water’s edge. |

Ed...tis so "harder to think of the poor sands caught between those whelms of stone, ground down, down into the heat below." Sand has always seemed to me like something that would "live" forever. I am sad for sand now, like opening a hand to the inevitable. Good to see you posting, by the way. |

Even so, I pour them at the water’s edge. the entire poem was an absolute marvel, but this this was profound...and moved me I will never look at sand the same way again... |

RatMan~ Little by little the drift and settle of words from your hand mesmerize me beneath the waves of emotional grain~ I LOVE seeing you here, my dear friend~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Friends of mine, I know it will sound trite and insincere, but I mean it truly, these comments move me....more than I can express. Lately I've felt like a pawn on an endless chessboard, but I'm not, truly I'm not. ....and Karilea....words fail me. I know how much that picture has come to mean, to you....I am blessed. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

This poem captures so much and stirs so many feelings in this reader. How I both love and hate it at those waters edges, how pulled I am by the tides, and how those shores seem so infinate, yet desolate at times. Each grain of sand melds into another and uniqueness becomes obsolete...ah, to be the sand sometimes, all one and the same joining together to make the great picture. Pardon the ramble...as I said, this stirs many feelings. Ruth I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S |

but not this sand, not the grains here in my hand, pristine, never these. I never thought I'd feel sympathy for sand... but your words lead me to many places I never dreamed I'd be. *S* I've never liked change much... especially when things are good... for while more good may lie in the future, it's not the same... and I cling to same much like wet sand clings to feet. *S* Maybe it's because that derned lava just burns so much. *S* And I ramble. *S* But this one makes me think... and I'm blonde, so rambling should be a forgivable offense. *S* Superb work! *S* |

You leave me quiet inside as I have come back to read this poem several times now. I don't have words to offer that can do it justice. I simply have read, enjoyed, thought and returned. A |

Dude... you made me say dude. That was mind blowing... you altered my perception to that of sand and I could see and even feel sadness for that grain as though it were human itself. A million millions go down... woooo! That's some deep stuff. |
