Usti Ulv!(Little Sister) Breezes blowing in her hair she walks a log across the stream arms held out to keep her balance, laughter bubbles from her lips as toad jumps in the water. Little fawn leaps away running towards his mother, sorry she has frightened him her black eyes cloud over soon she sees he is okay dancing through the meadow. One small brown hand pushes back the hair that has come loose and now is tangled, dark auburn in the sunlight it frames her round brown face. Hurry now little one you have a task that is undone, soon the grandmothers will be calling time to return to the villiage a day of both work and play the acorns to gather. To the feet of grandfather Oak a prayer said as she picks them up,asking blessings for the bread to be made of them to help us through the winter. She sees grandmothers greying head bending over to collect a plant, knowing she too give thanks to Creator for His loving abundance. Warm sunshine lying golden on the trees as she moves swiftly now through the forest, soon the first snowfall will come all the trees are changing colors. A happy life this little one free to roam and run, looking always to bring home something good to make her mother smile something tasty for her father. Basket full she says thanks to both grandfather Oak and Creator,Mother Earth has seemed more beautiful than she does today as the little one enjoys the gift of living!

"A happy life this little one free to roam and run" beautiful dream beautiful poem Granny! Sigi my Lady sister,it is this I believe, the way of my People was a better one where it concerns the children. To harm one,was instant punishment,to have done the things we must today fear they do to them was instant death and no excuses!

Osiyo!, Singing Cloud, I have not yet had the time to study your language, although I know in my heart that each and every word of your language is filled with nothing but love, hope, and encouragement. In this poem, I saw a different version of life, and it struck me, as I read, that in equating an animal to a human, there is a very natural phenomenon, in that we all repeat cycles; alternatively, a human's life is such that we multiply the table of life IF...we are as beautiful as the deer, as quite as the cougar, as quick as the fox, as sharp-eyed as the eagle, or hawk; and in that understanding.... it fails me to wonder why....we are not as wise as the owl. Warm hugs, m'friend. I hope to talk to you again soon, via email. |

As a child, I was a "gatherer". I got so much satisfaction out of gathering foods to take home to my parents and my siblings. I gathered blueberries, fiddleheads, mushrooms (my Dad taught me well), highbush cranberries, choke cherries, wild raspberries... I would go fishing by myself and catch perch, pickerel and pike to feed the family. I rejoiced in the bounty of Nature's offerings. Your poem brought back to me, the pure joy of being at one with Nature and the simple joys of my childhood. Thank you, blessed one of Our Creator! ![]() Love & Creator Light, EA |

AAhhh...,but eladitlv vgilv to the Tsalagi the Owl is also messenger,of death many times and so would be more right to say maybe sad as Owl? Sister you are right about the Tsalagi there are no "bad" words,no curse words,no word for goodby, rather it would be to say Donadogvhi(Until we meet again).I hope that you learn the language it is one of peace, and beauty.
