The Kiss of Truth (Sonnet)

If I could kiss you only once some day,
I know you would then kiss me in return -
The truest kiss conveys what one wish say
No flaming words can ever surer burn.
A kiss is but an imprint of the soul,
A lily on the mirror of the heart
Floating free on a sea of truth; a toll
to cede and thus unveil the inner part.
Within a kiss is passion and desire;
A question, an answer, a hint of death;
There new dreams and hope in a subdued fire
Wait to be kindled by an unfeigned breath -
So kiss me then and banish every thought,
Forget the lies we have been told and taught.
