DECEPTION Deception, like a viper, lurks ‘Neath every stone of human works; In all the fields of our endeavour Lies his agenda..... subtle......clever. His motive, like a virus, spreads And infiltrates ambitious heads; Corruption’s spectrum knows no bounds, No refuge from its baying hounds! Scheming, plotting, cunning minds Devising minefields of all kinds That honest man and learned scholar Be parted from their hard-won dollar. And who has not yet felt his bite? His plans are laid both day and night. He knows no shame, nor feels remorse That through your veins, hot blood shall course! Short lived, the serpent’s profit gained, His hands shall be forever stained; Yet ne’er will reconcile his goal To gain the world..... he sold his soul. “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world…..and lose his soul?” Jesus. The greatest thing you can do for another is not just to share your own riches...but to reveal to him his own. |

Short lived, the serpent’s profit gained, His hands shall be forever stained; Yet ne’er will reconcile his goal To gain the world..... he sold his soul. What goes around, comes around - ten fold! Extremely powerful piece of poetry, unfortunately all too true.... Ivor |

nodding---I have money problems. Meaning I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the freedom and independance that it allows, but I do not like what it does to people, and I'm actually frightened of the affect it might have on me. And smile? Actually? I don't know have the faintest concept of the stuff. I wouldn't know the difference between a thousand dollars, ten thou, or a million. I'm trying to persuade myself that I could handle it though. But indeed, the message is clear and I certainly agree, the priority should remain on the positive. Funny I should read this tonight--I was just telling another Pip friend, as I was looking at a designer bag with the pricetag of seventeen thousand dollars that this sort of thing is very perplexing to me. Thank you for underscoring the conversation for me, and helping me to keep things in perspective. I do not need a Louis Vuitton handbag. And shame on me for lusting for the Birken bag too. After Katrina, I oughtta know better. It's just stuff. Thanks again Rod. |
