The Horizontal Christmas Tree

Oh, Christmas tree, that we adore,
Why are you lying on the floor?
We sat and looked at you last night,
Making sure you were decked right.
The ornaments we cherish so.
The lights that set you all a-glow!
Your heady fragrance filled the air.
You were a sight beyond compare,
But after we had gone to bed,
You decided to "play dead!"
It's not your fault, for what I'm feeling.
We didn't tie you to the ceiling!

With that title, I knew it was gonna be interesting! I can relate somewhat as one year we bought an artificial tree where the branches went into little plastic tubes. All of the branches were pointing down in the morning and the ornaments were sliding off.
Thanks for the delightful read(as if you could produce anything less)! love, Barb

Hi Barb:

I actually hadn't decorated the tree when it decided to take a nap!  I was thankful for that.  We had quite a time wrestling it back up in place.

Thanks for your always kind remarks! Happy New Year to you!

Love

Oh poor betty.  I am glad your precious ornaments were not on it already.  Well it just wanted to give you fodder for a poem.  Hope the rest of your Christmas went fine.
Hope Santa was good to Ron.  Love, Joyce

An all-too-familiar image. When I put up a tree (it is more of a challenge now), I had at least two horizontal Christmas trees--each the result of a cat (the same one) who wanted to be the star on the top of the tree.

Dear Joyce:  Thanks for commiserating!  I was very thankful no decorations were on the tree.  Everything went fine after that!
Happy New Year to you!

I remember this happening once when I was growing up too.  I think my youngest sister was responsible for that one!

kaila:  I rather suspected one of our cats with this mishap, but no way to tell for sure. The one in question is an imp and yet manages to look so innocent!

Hi MiCheLLe:  Thanks!  It was quite a surprise to find our tree stretched out on the floor!  It was also quite a job getting it back up again and secured. Part of the holiday happenings!

Happy New Year to you!

BettyLou~
I know I'm late in getting to this ... but the tornadoes that created such havoc have taken most of my time the last week~

This is a delightful piece ... though I'm sure it wasn't so amusing when it was happening~

Glad to hear that you all had a wonderful Christmas and sending best wishes for the New Year !
