In December Skies

Eagles are back in winter skies.
We watch a lone one as it flies
To dizzy heights, above the shore.
Where there is one, there'll soon be more!
They congregate this time of year
When schools of spawning fish appear.
Their lethal talons, clasp them tight,
Until they reach a tree to light
And then partake of food they crave.
Sometimes, fighting wind and wave,
They struggle to arise again,
Toting their quarry, to sustain
The style of life that is their lot.
It is a battle daily fought.
Their white heads gleam against dark trees.
Since it's not everyone who sees
A sight like this, it is a treat,
To live where eagles like to eat!

This is a wonderful poem.  I have a few eagles who light in my tall cedars sometimes but it is a rare sight.  Love, Joyce

I really like this one Betty Lou

Dear Marge:

Thank you!  I look forward every year to the bald eagles return. They feed primarily in the bay........Wolf Lodge Bay....about 4 miles from home. They're here about 6 weeks and we often go to watch them.

Hi Betty Lou,
Marge sent me some delights and got my interest sparked as to what's going on in here. So when I see your name, I know I'm going to be enchanted by your talent and I read this and, of course, I am again.
I hope you are well.
Love, Barb

kitkat:  Thank you for responding to this poem. It's a real blessing to be able to watch the eagles every December into January, feeding along the lake. We never tire of it and look forwad to that time of year.
