A Morning In October It's a wild and windy morning And the air is full of sighs And the mist is drifting, drifting, Where the reedy water lies. I can hear a raven calling, As he rides upon the breeze And the leaves are falling, falling, From the lonely autumn trees. It's a wild and windy morning, And my heart is sad to hear The sound of wild geese calling, From the higher atmosphere And the winter's nearly with us, When the days are cold and gray And the snow is blowing, blowing, So I put my dreams away! |

Betty , enjoy your poems. They always seem to create a kind of nostalgic feeling. I like the mood of this one. |

My favorite time, too, Betty...I love the colors of the leaves, the crispness in the air and preparing my firewood for winter. |

rvwooo: We gave up on getting wood, which we did ourselves, in the surrounding woods, and went to oil. It's easier for me to handle but not the same cozy heat. Betty Betty Lou Hebert |

Betty, I understand but firewood has become a part of me...I need the challenge. Maybe one day I will evolve rather than change. Hmmm, perception is my reality...some sort of metamorphosis or transformation would be acceptable. Who knows? Maybe one day I will escape from this cocoon and start using corn. Then my family "wood" stop referring to me as "the firewood guy" and they could call me..."Pop Corn". |

Dear Betty Lou I love this Autumn poem of yours. It has a wistful feel about it. RV Wooo's concept of burning corn to heat the house is feasible. It would be much cheaper to use corn than electricity and oil. Love Verbena xo |
