For a Mother's Day like all the rest
Again I dress up in my Sunday's best.
With love for the one who gave me life
I do all I can to fill her with pride.

Light hearted laughter fills the room
With sweet conversation singing it's tune.
Bright and cheery we pass the time
And I thank the Lord this Mother is mine.

Just as the world forgets to spin
I take my place beside my kin.
Together we recite the words rehearsed
And try to describe our love in a verse.

As the end draws near on our mushy rants
I can see through the tears; her eyes do dance.
I give my respect as told by the Lord above.
But who can do wrong by a Mother's love?

Hugs and kisses as we begin to part
And a solemn peace inflates my heart.
That is until I leave her grace
And in my minds eye, see another's face.

A face of the Mother who is not mine
But took on the role for her first time.
Her joy is pure and her soul is strong.
This endearing title is where she belongs.

New blue eyes she holds and she tastes
Her daughters baby hair. Bemoaning my fate
I carry on to my home gingerly
With a strong desire being able to see

The look on her face as her baby does stir
Knowing at last this day is for her.
Just to be able to wish her well,
"Best of luck" would cause my heart size to swell.

For in a distant past that moment was ours.
During the time that our love did so flower.
But twilight has come and a new day has dawned
And my body is not where my heart does belong.

A Mother's Day like all the rest
But this is the one I would sooner forget.

Unorthodox maybe, but I grow on you.

I think you write for more than fun...
but because you have something to say...

and you said this, with heart, and love,
caring, respect, and great sensibilities.

Thank you for sharing.

This really touched me. My mother has passed and I miss her more with each passing day.
