Behind the manor house,
a gray slate walkway,
leads to a sunny garden,
bordered by pink lady slippers,
and lavender hyssops, busy at work ,
attracting hummingbirds and bees,


along side the fence posts,stands ,
the queen of hosts, the common milkweed ,
who's nectar is irresistible to,
the majestic monarch butterflies,
and entices swallowtails with painted ladies ,
from the isle; of cyclades.
