One time in the land of stain Where red and white boxcars Made up the train, One could see, as it was plain, That rain came from a candy cane. The rain, you see, was striped red and white. Big, hearty drops danced in the night. At dawn there were puddles. Oh! What a sight! To see it was glee and awesome delight! The candy cane town then went away “There’s always change” That’s what you might say. “Where did it go?” Let’s take a look at what we might learn By reading a book. Reading a book or a poem can be play. It sends us a picture, a vision our way To a land we can never quite know But for that moment, it has its own glow. And then when we share it, A trail has begun- A trail of friendship as warm as the sun That laughs at the time when The land of the stain On the page and the paper Soaked up “word-reign.” |

Thank you, friends in poetry. I'm glad to be back. I've been writing regularly. I stopped for a while. Barb |
