We built our house in sixty-nine
And moved in on that Halloween.
For forty years these walls have stood
And comforted when life was mean.

Our first fire in our new fireplace
And waiting as the cider steams,
We filled our mugs, held them aloft
And planned our plans and dreamed our dreams.

This Halloween I sit alone.
The ashes of that fire are cold.
No one to stoke it since you're gone
The house and I are growing old.

Joyce,

You have been through so much - however, you are not alone when you are loved. It might seem like it, but you aren't.  Remember that you are so loved here in PiP - as your family loves you too.  Maybe you need a kitten to curl up at that hearth and look to you to light the fire.

I think of you - and I care.  Thank you for teaching me so much about poetry as I read yours.

Alison
