Moonlight Walk

With evening slipping in and
street lamps winking on,
we walk the main street
of our small home town.
Arm in arm and with the slow pace
that our age will only allow,
I watch the snow falling on your now gray hair.
With the holiday lights reflecting,
you look at me and I realize that
even after all these years
I still get lost in your eyes.

With a boldness of a much
younger version of myself,
I halt our late night walk, and
your endless conversation about your sister,
by drawing your beautiful face to mine
with these old but still tender hands
and stealing a kiss.

I smile as I hear
that young girl laugh
that has never left you
and hear you quietly whisper “you old coot”
in my loving ear.

I love how he breaks up the talk of her sister (and I love the detail in the poem).  This is where I want to be some day.

How sweet, I can just see the couple sharing that tender moment.  The kind of love everyone is looking for.

That was lovely. That's the kind of tender care everyone hopes to acheive some day... Thank you for sharing.
