Winter At Our Door

Sometimes, the winter winds will creep
Into our world while we're asleep
And wake us with an icy roar
To tell us winter's at our door!
In other years, it will appear
With gentle snow and it is clear
Although it seems to be no threat,
It will leave piles we won't forget!

No matter how it's ushered in,
The moment that it does begin,
I start to count the days before
They'll lengthen towards the spring once more.
I watch the calendar and clock,
Waiting for the birds to flock
To the feeders I put out,
To catch the eyes of those about.
Soon it's warm enough for me
To go outside myself and see
Other signs that mean the days
Are welcoming the sun's warm rays!

I feel the same way Betty Lou. Nicely done.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Ooh so nice to have a picture of you.  And I echo your sentiments about the winter.  I count on seeing some days in February that will let me linger in the garden for a spell.  Happy New Year to you and yours.  Love, Joyce

Dear Joyce:  Happy New Year to you and your family too!  We both have pictures on site now after a number of years. Nice! There must have been a "photo fairy" in the background lately!

Artic Wind:  Thanks for your comments. I am a little disenchanted with winter this year.
Over 4 feet of snow and still coming!
