This piece is my small contribution to our nation's birthday on the Fourth of July. No political implications are intended. ___________________________________________________ Thy mountain tops touch the clouds, blessed with tall timber and wild game, thy valleys green with summer wealth, rolling fields golden with ripened wheat, craggy coasts shelter deep harbors, thy cities sprawl in modern splendor, thy masses teem with life and promise, scarred by desperate battles to be free, storms loom in ominous posture, thy way is not always clearly marked, yet, thy will is strong and steady, a beacon to the troubled world, thy fate is tied to thy people, forever bound together in common cause or bloody strife; the stage evolves, turns, twists, with unexpected events, what is thy ultimate fate precious land, will thy children grow and prosper, or will thy light fade to black, as so many have before thee, speak to me, beloved country, sooth my troubled heart, I fear for thee, beloved land; my land, my America. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Thanks Peg for writing a tribut to our country. She needs us all to uphold her honor. (I am catching up on my daughters computer. Mine died and I await a new one. So if I seem to be ignoring my dear friends, I am not, Love, Joyce |
