I thought you were a man
With an angelic smile.
I followed after your halo
Year after year, mile after mile.

I loved your loving heart
And the touch of gentle hand.
I followed after your halo
Over gravel, meadows, sea, and land.

Your laugh made me so happy
A mirthful twinkle in your eye.
I followed after your halo
Not knowing that you would lie.

The words came to you so easy
Everything just seemed to fit.
I followed after your halo
And saw it had slipped just a bit.

Yes, nicely done Shawna.
Your repetition ended
with a TiTlec surmise.

reminds me of, "Sam's Fish-Tale- (Triolet)"

perfection or the lack thereof is in the eyes of the beholder. however, if memory serves me correctly, the last time a man was perfect, he was nailed to a cross!

Well, I've always there was only one perfect man on this earth...and they crucufied Him.
Didn't really expect perfection but some things just blind side ya. I got over it. Wasn't as devastating as it could have been.

yep, been blind-sided a couple times myself...think i know what your saying...its the suddenness, the suprise,or the unexpected...kinda like a fall...the fall is not so bad but the suprise jolt at end kinda smarts a bit.

Wonderful poem, I wish mine could reach that standard. Alas, my poems are just not good enough. The last time sumone was perfect,he was sacrificed to save our sins.

Darkness is only the lack of light...
