I saw a girl the other day, while I was shopping in the superstore. She was ahead of me, a picture from my youth. Long black hair, hanging down to the waist, with a peculiar sway in her hips. Concho belt and buckskin shirt, turquoise bracelet and silver rings. I thought back many years, when I found myself hurrying to catch up. Tapping her on the shoulder, she turned around, and I just stood there, staring, probably slack jawed. She asked me what I wanted, I could not speak, just looked into those beautiful brown eyes. Again she said what do you want. When I found my voice I said, I just wanted to see your face. Ok, so what else do you want, and I couldn't speak. She was the love of my life so many years ago, filling my being with happiness. She's gone now, but only from my eyes, in my heart she will be with me forever. We didn't do the things couples do now, we lived the things we did. Involved completely with each other, never wanting to be apart. And so today, while shopping in the superstore, I saw this girl ahead of me. Long black hair down to the waist, and that peculiar sway of the hips. I was the hardest thing to do, to keep from hurrying up behind her. Then tapping her shoulder so she'd turn around, and I could look into that face just one more time. Cheechako |

Cheechako: It's strange how we'll see people sometimes who awaken memories from our past. It's almost as if they have re-appeared in our lives! Enjoyed the poem! Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Nicely written. I know the feeling of seeing a lost love in a fleeting moment. joyce |
