it wouldn’t matter
tell me it wouldn’t matter
if things came spilling out onto
tabletops and onto the air
that we’ve been breathing for so long now
a year of listening to you laugh
and the subtle way you tend to
cover up the truth
nothing makes up for this
i would have loved to watch
this grow
i would have loved to tell
you really, honestly
i admire you
i did
maybe things could stay
the same but we know
you know
nothing makes up for this
and i would finally sputter and spit
out the words i’ve been dying
to tell you from the start
this means something,
it does
nothing was in vain
i loved when you held me just right
and the way i could open up
my insides
so, what do you think
this means for us?
i miss going out to breakfast
and the way you drive your car
fast and with power
yet the way i know you would
never want to hurt me
even if the teasing can reach
to extremes
i love when you get that
compassionate look in your eyes
and the way
you know the perfect places
to put your hands
but
aren’t we all just dreaming
in times like these?
isn’t this all just one huge
reality check and each
time i see you i think we can
work past all of these
struggles
i could finally reach out,
you could finally speak the truth
but nothing’s as it seems
and i know you too well to
already guess
that you’ll let another chance
at something wonderful
pass you by
the only thing i have left
to speak is that
i hope you end up regretting
and regretting and regretting
when we stop our saturday night
hang outs and our
flirtatious endeavors
maybe you want this more then me
you’re scared and that’s okay
aren’t we all at one time or another
this is your time
this is my time
aren’t we all scared
aren’t we all
