I wrote this for my best friend, the day I found out she was moving away because of family issues. We hadn't been close friends for long, but she's done more for me then anyone else ever has. I really miss her, even though we still talk. Casey I stare in shock watching words appear on the screen in front of me not wanting to believe them. I want to be beside you, to comfort you. You tell me you don’t know what to do and oh, I want to help you. But I don’t know either. I want to be wise. I want to ease your agony. You tell me you don’t want to face it, you don’t want to go home. And all I can do is say, I’m here for you. And tears fill my eyes. You say you’re holding back tears too. And all I can do is tell you I’ll miss you, tell you I’ll never forget you. Cherish the memories that I have, over a time cut far too short. Savor the last moments before you disappear. You’ve given me far more than you’ll ever know and I shall never forget you. |

I understand where this poem is coming from completely. It's a hard poem to read, because of how sad it must be for you, but it's a beautiful poem telling of friendship too. Thanks for sharing this piece "The rising morning can't insure that we shall end the day; For death stands ready at the door to snatch our lives away" |

I remember 30 years ago telling the girl who had been my best friend for nearly 5 years that I was moving 300 miles away... it was horrible. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my entire life! But here we are 35 years later, still best friends. She lives about 1 1/2 hours away now and we get to see each other a few times a year. Whatever you do, try not to lose touch with your friend. You won't regret it. And, if you haven't already, send her a copy of your poem. It's lovely, and years from now, you will both still read it and remember how much you care about each other. Really, a lovely piece of writing. Good luck to both of you~~ Caroline He who wants a rose must respect the thorn. |
