Rabbit I have a friend, made of wool and thread Who is rather dear to me, He sits there, silent still, on my bed For all the world to see He sits there all alone, So quiet yet with such thought His glassy, beaded eyes like stone His small, stitched mouth pulled taut And even though one lonely leg Is longer than the next, Even though he can’t sing nor beg He stands tall above the rest His woolly fur is musty brown One ear flops down his face His brow sinks in a frown His one whisker out of place He sits there by my side His bobbled paw in mine As I spill a troubled tide Until I’m feeling well and fine Worries, secrets, joys and tears Are spoken with tearful breath Love, sadness, dreaded fears Are heard upon by ears of deaf Though his heart is cotton And his glassy eyes don’t see He will never be forgotten As he means so much to me More than any friend or foe He still stands number one He never answers back at me Never questions me for fun He is the only one who understands Who stays in the same place His yarn heart is never changing Neither is his woollen face My best friend is made of wool and thread He is rather dear to me, He sits there, silent still, on my bed For all the world to see once again, thanks for reading and crit. =] |
