A Mighty Stranger

Are you happy now?
You’ve made yourself a fool
And for what,
But a little common addiction

You’re not the one I once
Once so long ago
Ever called- called a friend
No- he’s long gone now

So call yourself a beggar
A secret king in rags
I have no pity- I know you not
An effect of what has passed

And for a miserly second
You give me time of day
Looking deep inside my eye
Don’t like what you see?

What once we two- we had
Is now lost to my pen
I miss that one who cared
For this one I do not know

You’ve turn into a mighty stranger
As Cathy would agree
And the Universe still holds the spot
Where your true used to be
