clean cut lawns, practical shoes, shined and polished. floral paper plasters the pale walls, infested with asbestos. at least it is hidden from sight. what would the neighbors think? i obey commands like a well trained dog. smile, always poised, never offend, dust the porcelain seraphim, above the fireplace. curfew, 10:00, don't forget your pearls, they give off a respectable heir. living in pastels all my life. always dull, always fake. the only colour in my life, the black red blood, seeping from my chest, soaking my pressed powder blue blouse. my body hunched over a white picket fence, slowly staining from white to red. if you can touch me, i know i'm still only dying |
