I smile watching you breathe Feeling you sleep Long has it been that I dreamed of this You, me and the sound of your sleeping The touch of your dreams I know this moment is only born of torn memories and dashed dreams I know that it is only a moment But sometimes isn’t it all about the moment? Isn’t life just moments strung together for our demise or pleasure? Who’s to say what moments become hours, or days or what ones fade away But the moments are what matter Moments cause hearts to skip, like mine when I hear yours beat Not from a far, but right in my ear So distant yet easy to hear The amazing thing about moments is the choices they represent and pose Anyone could be here, yet here I am Not ready, but not afraid The darkness of my life fades as the ashes of fear are fading away Some just fell, some were pushed Some I chose to finally wipe away I know fear is there but I’m no longer running No longer numb It feels good to be chosen, even if just for a moment Because life is moments isn’t it? Moments that define who we are Choices that break us down and make us whole Haunt us for life or cause us to die But always remind us that we chose Its easy to be bitter for choosing wrong For moments gone astray For time lost For memories of moments that felt so right that you thought you really could kiss the sky For memories of moments to painful that you cant help but cry For the loss is greatest in the smallest of moments And the reward is the smallest for the easiest of choices But those moments are the reward The beats of a heart lost at sea yet still in port The touch of skin soft and forbidden The feel of lips still reserved The grip of holding on so tight that I can’t breathe but never wanting to breathe again if that means you letting go The look in your eyes when you smile The pain in your eyes when you remember All of these moments are what makes time All of this time is what makes moments And all of these moments are what make me happy for this little time I have with you. |
