1. Walking and chewing gum at the same time. Some people can’t do it, or so I’m told. 2. Doing one thing while trying to remember what it was you set out to do in the first place! --- Sounds like the poet, about to cry, desperately looking for his glasses that abide quite conspicuously on his nose! Yo Art, This is nice work. In the line: "what it was you sat out to do in the first place! ---" Do you mean "set" instead of "sat", or are you taking it easy and sitting every once in a while. Bobby |

Hey Bobby, interesting question. Set as in "to place" and sat as in past tense of sit (recline), or the past tense of set. Let me think about it. Set is probably correct. Wade in you linguists! art [This message has been edited by gilead (02-13-2009 12:20 AM).] |

Okay, Bobby. It's kind of murky. As a transitive verb, "set" taking the object of an intent to act is one thing, but "out" is another. So what is it that "out" is? Well, I'm going to play it safe and use set! Thanks, art |

Once more, Bobby. "Set" is definitely correct because, there is no exception for the intransitive verb "sit" to take "sat" as a past tense form. So, stylistically, "sat" may sound good, but is not proper the way I used it. Sorry, Mrs. Davidson (my high school English teacher)! Thanks again, Bobby, art |
