For the first time I thought twice I shook my head and looked away My own stupidity Never ceases to amaze me How many hours have I wasted Just to get a taste . . . Just to get a taste of you You cry poison and bleed the antidote But your words are hollow Meaningless to society Still you manage to fool me With everything you say A turn for the worse I'll never understand Why you stick around . . . Why I'm still around I contradict myself With every step I take Every word I speak No less than an addiction To the promise you won't keep No connection's made But your every word is saved In the depths of my darkest nightmare Feb. 5th 2009 Emily Shives |

Gosh, Emily, this is quite dark, but I do know what you are writing about. Very impressive poem and it touches me in a certain disquieting way... Love, Margherita |
