"49 and Holding" Once there was a "49 and holding", soon to be eleven more. Growth in word emotions molding, standing today in thoughts of before. He was there to catch the feelings to lighten the load of the past in its wake, to soften the hardness of reeling to realing. half empty towards fullness, so easy to take. Memories rise as age keeps increasing, summers to fall to the Wynters of spring. Understandings once trapped, beginning their ceasing, guided by thoughts that a moon child must bring. Still there are mirrors that bring her thru glass, till the thoughts straight from heart find the truth from the false, as Alice appears looking for greener grass, now moving ahead from whatever the loss. Sometimes she appears, the Lady, in waiting when fantasy wrapped,it's Renaissance time. Yearning fulfillment,in armor creating the "fragmented self" and these verses in rhyme! Captive the soul in differences of living when words, few expressed, lay in lines, those between. Today rise the thoughts of 49 and giving thanks to the he, who had come on the scene. M "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less." |

sometimes it's useful to be 49 and holding, sometimes it's useful to let go of things past and act your age. Either way it's an intriguing poem. Keth Always do more than is required of you George Patton |

In the past I have written as "49 and holding" elsewhere when I began writing and was 49... I have been MMoonchild,Captvsol, Alicethruglass,Lady Ollyne and nakdthoughts. This was a poem thanking someone who helped me write poetry when I was 49 and holding over 10 years ago. M |

Maureen - I would mind being 49 and going backwards for a while. It does creep up on one for sure, age that is... BC |

I think Bill, If I was "49 and holding" again I would have proceeded differently in my life although at that point change was imminent and painful...thus the poetry. I would have tried to see my father sooner before his painful death, I would have spent more quality time with my sister dying of cancer and would have prepared myself better for the future and the economic failures of this country and just maybe would have tried to have some enjoyment instead of being so serious. hugs and thanks (but I would never have been sorry for all those I have met in real and on here through poetry.)
