I do a 360 to be certain, And, yes, a singular cloud, A vanishing, lenticular form, Hovering above the mountain, Like an alien thing in the rosy-gold Of the waning dawn . . . Ah, alien it is, but to my terrestrial Habitat, not to my imagination, Nor my eye for beauty! To the morning, to the sun, To every eye that beholds you, And to every child that dreams Unto the awakening day, earth’s Continuing, unfailing gift— beauty, enchantment, hope . . . |

This little bagatelle was drafted in my mind as I watched the dawn give way to sunrise, when I was on the way to baby-sit the nephew. Most of it was what I thought at the moment---pretty good memory for an old pedagogue, who’s noticing more and more the beauty of sunset. art |
