your glances were as glass dancing
between those circles of whispering palms
and nothing else was all dressed up special

but then you brought your smile along
I watched you pull it out of your pocket
and press it on like lipstick to my mind sides

I admitted it too, it was a fix I enjoyed
if you didn't mind serving it mixed that way
with your other charms that I didn't notice

except for the sun kiss shapely places
and soft woman sounds when you were fragile
carrying time in small handy handfuls

with just a glance from your own occasional

When I was little one of my best friends was the little girl in the mirror. This reminds me of her. Maybe she grew up.
