Snake on the beach
You have gasped, almost screamed and scurried away,
like the crabs; of course, you are unaware
that it has long been dead. A defused serpent.

The coiled reptile sleeps; sleeps on a gold-beach;
sleeps till time consumes it, decomposes life.
Now, the snake cannot bite, though wouldn’t have
bitten you had it been very much alive.

A half eaten apple rests midst its coils.
A cycloned beach rounds our unfulfilled,
dissatisfied dreams, wrecked  red passions

Bared beach I
(To the beach of Shankarpur)
The threads of kingfisher’s flight tracks
are not easy to map.
The sandbanks rise and fall;
obstruct the view of the flashing blue of the bird.
The pines of the forest swathe it;
wrap it;
guard it;
try hard to protect it;
though the last week’s gale has stripped
the forest.

The beach is itself bared;
the dark bones of it
are shown as if in a dissection class;
like announcing, “attention, chaps. Now, as you can watch…”

We can watch a blue bird
with a silver fish, still thirsty for life, in its beck.
We can see it for a second longer,
till we discover,
we are into the sun. The clouds are washed.
Like a spotlight the sun is showing up
our bared beach of souls,
raped, alone.
We are going to set on a journey,
riding a canoe,
in a cyclone.

Yo Poddarku,

I think I've been to that beach.  I hope everything is going well there.

Dear Ku, this is fantastic poetry. It was like overflying the beach in a helicopter and you commenting.
Your Poet eyes gather awesome material to bring to the attention of your readers, in such an impressive way that they can't erase the visions anymore.

Wonderfully expressed.

Love and hugs.

Kushal, I popped into Pip to read 1 poem I could really feel, before going to bed.  When I saw your name here, I decided that this posting (I didn't know it would be 2 poems) would be it.  I mourn with a heavy heart for the snake and the trees, but look outwards at the beauty of the bird and sense it's heart pumping its little heartbeat - and then upwards into the sun, from a canoe in the cyclone where your poem puts me, as always, in the heart of things.  Thank you for the pain and the joy, the agony and the ecstasy.

Intense spell-binding read, ku.
I've seen the devastation major storms bring to coastal areas, and have seen dead animals buried in the sands who were caught in a moment of nature's fury.
Good to read you again. You always offer an interest read.
