Hello to all my great PIP friends, I have just come home again from respite. My poor wife certainly needed it more than me but she is feeling a bit better now. The nurses at the respite centre were all marvellous in their caring for all the old people. I was so pleased with them that I decided to write a poem for them. I hope you like it. Woodend’s Wonderful Nurses It is with a wonderful sense of pleasure That I’ve come back to Woodend for respite, To see all those Nurses I’d met before And many more who will gladden my sight. Being a nurse is a wonderful profession And most nurses are ever so kind, And when we are completely under their care, With our lives they become completely entwined. Warmly welcomed by Lisa at the reception desk, Then shown to my room by dear Jan, She fiddled & fussed & made sure things were right, In fact she reminded me of my dear old Gran. There are three great nurses like Claire and Linda And Kaye, all top girls in any nurse’s selection, And where would you get another like Emmy Who is the pinnacle of nursing perfection? Three others whose stars shine much brighter And I say this on my scout’s honour, They helped me with that little bit extra And they all shared that first name of Donna. The name of Di is collated with caring And of the ones who were there to help me, For their kindness they were all good at sharing, As were Maxine, Kathryn, Rosemary and Lee. Margaret and Melissa were angels of care And Katrina and Joy top nurses in the world, Also a very special gong for the cleaner, For Lee always carried her banner unfurled. There are others who stand tall like our Annie, As well as Alison, the Lisa’s and Bee, Also Jan who brought me my medication, With them all, I shared a great empathy. I know there are many more wonderful nurses Who have all earned a great mention here? But all your names I find hard to remember, But who in my memory I hold very dear. So to you all I say thank you sincerely For all your kindness and your expertise, I look forward to my next enjoyable respite Just so long as my dear wife agrees. Lindsay |

Welcome back, my dear Aussie Man!!! You've been missed! ~ and now those nurses are missing you! What a thoughtful gift of poetry for my sisters (the nursing profession is truly a sisterhood. ). I know that they will appreciate it, to be sure. I certainly would. I'm also impressed that you could remember all those names! lol Giving you a big, warm, welcome-back hug, Linda |

Lindsay, I have missed you lots. I loved your poem and am sure that the nurses did too. The halls of PiP seem way too quiet when you aren't among us, you know. I love the title of your poem and plan to try it out and see how it works (grins). Seems like I still have to place that book order with you. Take care and know that I missed you. Please tell your wife that I send my hello's to her too. Alison |

To be honest folks I felt a little bit emotional to see such great friends as Rick, Roniece, Linda, Alison, Sunshine, Bill and Bobby's names in the response to my poem. I have missed you all far more than you might imagine. PIP has become a very satisfying part of my life, thanks being to folk like you. God bless you all. Lindsay |

Welcome back! What a lovely tribute to the nurses and what a good memory you have for names. In my part of the world good and caring nursing is a thing of the past so it's good to know that it still exists in other parts of the world. Helen |

To Hope, Tacey and Helen, thank you so much dear friends for your kindness for giving me a generous response, it makes writing poetry so worth while when other people read and enjoy it. Love to you all. Lindsay |
