Happiness and heartache Thrills and daily toils Bitten by the black snake Caught up in its' coils Oh, how I fluctuate ! Ah, how I never change ! Oh how the strange seems normal and the normal seems so strange. I can always be myself even 'neath a Blackbeard mask You can call me "Edward" and scream out"Teach me",if I ask I can be a rusty tea pot or a shiny sugar bowl I can polish my integrity and sell it as a soul Adaptable, flexible Still wanted Alive or dead I can be near twelve feet tall, if I stand on my head Crawford's beauty mole or ol' Job's burning boils... I'm bitten by the black snake and caught up in its' coils *** |

We're all manic-depressives, my friend. We just need to take hold of that ol' black snake and stick it in a sack. |

~ Hi Uriah, I'm new here, and new to your poetry but I really enjoyed this trippy journey down the page. I never knew that black snake was term used with regard to Bi-Polar...I guess it's like the black dog which is a term I've heard used with regard to depression...anyway, sorry for rambling...I thoroughly enjoyed this poem *hugs* Sasha xx |
