Thirteen Steps Upstairs Down

It’s a small step up to the first one
Quite normal really, one little foot,
Pick it up, then bring the other
         Along side, there, nothing easier,
Stop a moment to look around,
Looks pretty much the same, huh?
But your feet are off the ground,
Well now take another, see, more
The same, wouldn’t you say?
Not a lot of change, bit higher, eh?
OK, next one is where you notice
         Hey, things sure seem different,
Up another and yes, definitely something,
View is farther and breathing, my, my,
Lets see that’s four, are you sure, yes,
Now keep your balance, that’s it,
Deep breath here, now another and step,
Whew! Not dizzy are we? Careful there,
Maybe you should wait? Sip some water?
Perhaps you’d like to sit a spell? No?
Right! One more higher and stop!
‘Bout halfway wouldn’t you say, of course,
By all means have a look around,
Having fun? Not bad, the view is better,
Try another and see what’s what, Hummm?
Can’t say all that much to the eye, myself,
Oh well let’s try two at once, shall we?
Oh my, must catch my air, high you see,
Is it fair to sit? Ten or eleven doesn’t matter,
Fine we’ll take them both, together now!
Hold on! Steady, that’s it, now slow breath, good,
No need to hurry, just two more right? Right?
Wait, we both do these at the same time, okay?
Alright, one, two, ha, ha, wasn’t so bad!
What do you think? Please, I insist, rest a bit,
No, no, no hurry, it’s just us now, as you like,
If only we had brought a lunch, no time dear,
This is just our first visit, we’ll come back,
I promise, hold my hand, oops, easy does it!

Life in an ongoing journey, and I really enjoyed where you took me here.

Simply stated, and so very nicely done.

Bloodline,

Welcome to PiP.  I love the title of your poem and am entranced with the poem itself.  I think a cookie break would be in order ... the sugar could offset any dizzy spells from the height.

Thank you for sharing and making me smile.
