I’m dizzy from the round-about
I thought to not play on
and how like me to ring the bell
I thought to not ere hear
but thoughts they come a-racing
down a one-way street
determined like a mad man
to maim if not to kill
whatever’s in their path.

To wait on the sidewalk
is to know there’ll be an accident
that up-turns all my thoughts
and leaves them there for dead.

One-way streets are hazardous
for the stubborn and inflexible
and so I know to tap, tap, tap,
to the harmony within
while waiting for that accident
that surely will occur.

And the driver of the means
to maim and reconstruct
or kill and resurrect
simply a “me”
waiting on the sidewalk
unseen, invisible!

that encourages

Honey, you're not even safe on the sidewalk! My pregnant sister was walking down the sidewalk when a hit and run driver jumped the curb and struck her down and killed her 7 month unborn twins. Tragic. So very, very tragic.

The number of maniacal drivers out there is downright terrifying.

May God protect all the law-biding innocents of this world!

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but your poem brought it all flooding back.

Love to you!
Linda

Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy... and experiences can make us afraid to risk stepping off the curb.  It is this very conversation that can spirit us to let go of the dread, and walk.

Excellent metaphor Helen.

Thanks everyone.  I think my mind (words) are getting too complicated - even for me sometimes.  More like now knowing not to be inflexible with regard to my thoughts because they will more than likely change given certain circumstances and events.  I therefore wait on the "sidewalk" for that "within entity" to redirect them. Listening isn't too easy what with the "roar of the traffic and all".

Dear Linda - I'm so very sorry.  When I hear things like that I find it hard to maintain my view of this life stuff.  My sincere condolences.
