She sat alone with paints beside her chair,
a canvas filled with sunshine at her side.
She gazed around the scene set en plein air,
then chose a brush to paint the rising tide.

The blues and greens were blended carefully
to capture all the shadows and the light
on water swirling in the crystal sea
with seabirds diving in to grab a bite.

The vista on the canvas taking shape
with sky and sea, the morning light was best.
A misty fog along the rocky cape
meant clouds were rolling in from north, northwest.

She rushed to add a final touch of tan
then sprinted just before the rain began.
