This country versus city appeal can work both ways. He left the country to search the city For success he couldn't find home He was excited his passion ignited Chasin big dreams on his own But the hightower selection Built on college connections Required a mamma's boy pass Many years he wasted Trying with patience To get past the vogue middle class Then he turned to drinkin, to bury his thinkin Spends his nights under a bridge Never in his plans as a young man To run out of time like he did But all of those big dreams Gave way to a small scene Where a country boy's words fade away And most of the magic Turned out to be tragic Now he sings for his keep unashamed The years took their toll his young bones grew old Street gang cut off his ear Sometimes he'd cry from his soul to his pride When his grey head filled up with fear But the hightower selection Built on college connections Required a mamma's boy pass Many years he wasted Trying with patience To get past the vogue middle class Now he plays his street songs most never last long But he gives from the heart like a child Still writin new words hopin they'll be heard By those who might stop for a while But all of those big dreams Gave way to a small scene Where a country boy's words fade away And most of the magic Turned out to be tragic Now he sings for his keep unashamed After fifty years gone of guitars and songs He'll still smile if you stop and listen Cause he still believes in the dreams he conceived And the world doesn't knowwhat they're missin The hightower selection Built on college connections Required a mamma's boy pass Many years he wasted Trying with patience To get past the vogue middle class He left the country to search the city For success he couldn't find home......fade......... |

Fade, but not to erase as your words bring it all home with a touch a grace and grit |

Thanks Eric, I have wonderful country boy relatives and the like. I myself, like Bones, was born and raised in the city, and that's where I live. I did spend time in the country, but I didn't like it at all. It was never home, and I didn't like the people. Thanks for the nice dedication. Bobby |

This is nice. The country will always welcome him back home, no matter the years. It doesn't forget. |

Tina and Eric, To get an idea of why I wouldn't live anywhere else but the city, you'll have to read my book "Felix". It's about my life in the country. Love Bobby |

ethome - even though I've been employed in the big cities most of the time I came back to the small town in the mountains. If it weren't for all the darn snow it's great. BC |

Hey Eric, you can take the poet out of the country, But you can’t take the country out of the poet now can you. I didn’t know CW stood for, Canadian and Western? What a cool tune! |

And most of the magic Turned out to be tragic Now he sings for his keep unashamed I think you've painted a portrait that mirrors many a musician... the music pours out whether anyone notices or not. Excellent! |
