The return When she returns to you And takes her rightful place, Her coming will undo me Is this something I can face? Must I stand witness To the joy burning in your eyes My heart will be destroyed The moment she arrives? Will I be able to endure And bear the dull suspense As she again regains your heart But remains uncertain on the fence? Shall I stand in the shadows Just beyond the gate Shattered on the inside Left wondering at my fate? Do I possess the will Can I be that strong To untie my heartstrings No longer to belong? When you lay my tender heart To the ground , there at my feet Will all the cherished memories Become sad and bittersweet? Can I survive this tragic loss? Will my broken heart ever mend? How will I continue to live a life Bereft of my most treasured friend? T |
