Mountain Laurel By My son, A million memories have crossed my heart in these long months Some, I push away in tender turn of my cheek The softest brush of your dear voice pecks lightly an echo from the past Days like today, I square my shoulders full face to where you are Knowing that peace does surround you, all of spring around you Called to arms, in name and numbers that state your footprint and stature In these breaths, when you are at my ear, speaking into my heart We exchange the knowing and keeping of sacred things, precious times A bond that is measured by sky and sea, flower and tree Walking on grace, the carpet blooms of yellow friends The air resounds and love descends Every tree reflects your laughter, as a dart of fleeting sun Together we are here, where every battle fought was won And I remember just how blue your eyes Rest awhile, on mountain laurel breezes by Copyright Kkh 5/9/09 |

Beautiful tribute and especially loved these lines ... ******************************************* The air resounds and love descends Every tree reflects your laughter, as a dart of fleeting sun Together we are here, where every battle fought was won ******************************************* |

Oh, Kathleen, I shiver under the rain of emotions that your masterful poem brought about. Your son lives in your words and dwells in your heart, you are forever connected in beauty. Incredibly poignant! Love and hugs. Margherita ![]() |

I've struggled to find the right words to comment on your poem. So I'll just say: beautiful, and take a drop of water for my throat. |
