STARTING AGAIN A widower bold tho’ eighty years old Still enjoyed all the trappings of life, Since his wife passed away there was little delay Till he remarried with a lovely young wife. His family all grown and long ago flown, He thought a new family he would start once again, His wife only forty still liked to be naughty And said from a new family she would not refrain. Six months down the track and with trying no lack No sign of a being pregnant could be seen, So with much discontent, to the doctor he went And of his intentions he had to come clean. Doctor got to the stage of asking his age And was surprised at hearing eighty years old, Asking the age of his wife & if she enjoyed healthy life, She is happy and healthy and forty, he was told. A moment Doc’ thought and this knowledge he sought And said is your good lady still able to menstruate, Of that I’m not sure but I can tell you what's more There’s no way that she can even sew straight. Thanks Sue, I'm glad Jon put you right, he evidently could see the funny side. I heard that joke told by a commedian at a large gathering one day and everyone roared with laughter so I turned it into a poem. Love to you dear friend and say g'day to Jon Lindsay |
