Bones is maturing.

He’s got the Adam’s apple
and he’s starting in on
the peach fuzz thing.

He panics
that he might lose
his innocent looks.

There’s nothing
he can do about it.
He feels helpless.

He thinks it might be okay.
He might have to shave.
Mom tells him not to worry.

He’s got to think.

Bobby

I hate it when I lose my responses.  Bobby, this is the most sad Bones poem that I have read.  Thank you for sharing him and all your friends with us.

Thanks dear Alison,

What responses are you talking about Hon?  I've always responded to your posts--I think!

If I missed on, it wasn't on purpose.

It's not sad to mature.  That's a good thing.  Everyones having it done.

Don't forget, I write scatter-shot, little Bones will probably be back.  He could be back anytime.

Love Bobby

Bobby,

I agree that it is not sad to mature.  It's sad that Bones panicked as he matured.  That's what is sad.

And the response was the first one I had written to this poem.  I lost it when I hit submit.

Love you,
Alison

I think Bobby's outside is catching up with his inside.

Thanks dear Alison,

I understand now why you thought it was sad.  As you know, of the two dear friends that were models for Bones, one died in a terrible accident on our El, and the other is now approaching retirement from driving a cab here in the city.  He’s doing great, and lives up the street, and around the corner.

Thank you for your concern for my friends and me.

Thanks Yann,

Yes, maturing is very important, and can be very interesting.  Perhaps I'll tell you more tales about it.

Thanks dear Linda,

Yes, that's what happens when you get older.  Pretty soon you'll be able to see right through me.

Thanks for your interesting observation.

He he, Bones will make it through all of that and figure out how to keep on surviving despite those physical changes.

Thanks Eric,

Your right, that's exactly what happened.  Bones was one of the lucky ones.  There's a lot of lucky ones.
