Columbus Without A Cause Tell me of the heart-racing truth. Was your mind more absent than present? Did myriads of unknown senses invade your existence as you breathed such never-before, encompassed breath? On what did you, truly, dwell? I'm sure, am I not? One, small step and all that national jazz, was a pre-conceived, history-required notion. Where was fear? Do such men as you know fear? Or, did you ride it like a bronco till its bucking ferocity subsided? Tell me, Neil, I was a child of '69. Your courage is chiselled on the stones of age, of that, there is no doubt. Granite's unyielding breast, bared to the storm. But, I fear, in all your glory, you were but a Columbus without a cause. Why did you not say: "This is a footstep too far" |
