Summer Girl

She left me veiled in rain
but the scent of summer still remained
unfolding the blossom of her musk
tracing her hair of pollution brown dusk
into a tattoo to be soaking in my skin
the violet drapes of night she left half open
sneaking a sickle of deadly moonlight in
even when she knows I'm right, she'll still win
and I walk out into the blank page morning
pen in hand, my imagination heeds no warning

The signs that dot the interstate
that take me away to hibernate
I will come around again
I will command the seas again
sweet thing, straight to you, I ride the north winds
summer girl, will I find your heart still open?
Wounded, beautiful and other-guy smitten?
It has been written...

Summergirls
and some are not
gonna mean to you the world
some drown you in moonshots
Summergirls you put up on layaway
'till you dream yourself a better way
to be a better man
with an open heart and empty hands
but you'll never fill the demand
summergirls are hotter than the sun
but some are not
some kiss blue flame and some
they kiss icy hot
but oh my hazy blazing Summer girl
she's a ballerina twirl
bringing sunshine to my world

She left me tasting the pain
and the glow of her smile drove me insane
if it's crazy to adore her torrential rainfall
then lock me away, I wouldn't care at all
I'd still have dreams to dream of her smile
a sunray that shines a million miles
uncover the darkness where I do my time
break the bars that keep my love confined
and I walk out into the spilled ink bottle night
a hazy July evening that whispers it's alright

The smile that Cupid made his bow
her beauty darts into my world of woe
I will conquer the world
I will light my fuse with this girl
devil baby, straight and true, I will sing of you
summer girl, until your heart opens
dark, dangerous and other-guy bitten
if only you'd listen...

Summergirls
and some are not
gonna bring you the world
some strand you in the parking lot
Summergirls you put up on a pedestal
so you dig yourself a deep dark hole
to contain your fears
with an aching heart spent counting years
you've been alone, collecting tears
but summergirls are sweeter than honey
and some betray
some you love to spend all your money
and some just steal it away
but oh my hazy blazing Summer girl
she's a sunset curl
bringing her warmth to my world

Bringing warmth of the sun
come shinin', you're the one
come, light up my world
sweet Summergirl
